Your hours don't get logged here
If you're a high school student working on your 40, that part goes through your school. Once you've volunteered, get your supervisor to sign off, then file the hours wherever your school collects them so guidance can approve them. At a lot of Ontario schools that means Hour Republic.
Nelles Manor Museum has confirmed this role meets Ontario's rules: unpaid, outside class time, and nothing on the province's list of activities that can't count. NVO doesn't approve hours. Your school does, so check with your guidance office before you start if you're not sure an activity counts. How the 40 hours work
Keep the details for later
If you're a high school student handing in hours, your school will want to know who you volunteered with and how to reach your supervisor. Save that now so you aren't digging for it in June.

Some of the duties of an event assistant include: handing out event advertisements and materials to community members prior to events, setting up and taking down the event equipment, greeting event participants, providing information and answering questions by guests, and working with both cash and a point of sale purchasing system to sell event or tour tickets, water, or gift shop items.
At least once a year at the Nelles Manor Museum, a theatrical performance is performed by a dedicated group of volunteers – The Nelles Manor Players. Whether it is a full show, murder mystery, or a smaller historical skit, an actor has the opportunity to not only improve their interpersonal skills, but to educate their audience on the ways of societies centuries past. Volunteers write the scripts, direct the production, act and source costumes, set pieces, and gather props from available resources.
To this effect, actors are expected to learn their lines, blocking, and their role to the standards set by the director. Moreover, rehearsal and performance set ups and take downs are expected to be done by the volunteer cast themselves. An actor must be available to perform on the selected dates for the event, and for the majority of the rehearsals, which may take place several times a week depending on the performance.
As a Nelles Manor Museum volunteer tour guide, a guide’s primary role is to welcome museum visitors and help them experience the museum’s history in a meaningful way. During a season, the museum may see a large number of tours, and the goal of a tour guide should be to ensure that all enjoy themselves, the museum, and have come out of the experience by learning something new to them.
This position involves greeting visitors, sharing stories behind the museum’s many rooms and artifacts, answering questions to the best of the volunteer’s abilities, and helping the tour attendees navigate the manor safely while encouraging them to respect the house and its facilities.
